I am an American painter of my environment. Wherever I have lived I paint what I see, of course putting my own spin or interpretation of what I see. There are moments while looking at a landscape that I try to capture, freezing a moment in time through art. I try to make the immense more intimate, turn a quotidian moment into something that the viewer will be moved by emotionally and will remember. The quiet of a stormy winter day. The beauty of autumn. The foggy days hazing the land. The green and bright light of summer or the bleached hot days that render the sky nearly white. The joy that is spring. I have traveled to many places but have lived most of my life in New England. As a painter currently living in Vermont and spending time in Maine and on Cape Cod, there is more than enough to keep me interested and painting. From panoramic landscapes, to quiet streams, foggy fields and something as small as a bird nest, if it speaks to me, I will draw or paint it. Painting in oils is my primary medium, and working in pastels or charcoal ties things together.. I enjoy life, celebrate the beauty that I see every day, and hope I can convey that beauty, emotion and romanticism through my artwork. I hope my work helps people slow down and connect with original art and nature as well.
